| The UltraLux™ compact fluorescent floor lamps and torchieres offer
a safe, energy-efficient alternative to the conventional 300 watt halogen
floor lamp. The UltraLux™ torchieres use a 58 watt Full Spectrum
tri-phosphor fluorescent bulb, and is available in seven beautiful models.
The fixture's dimmable switch allows for variable lighting levels ranging
from 1,000 to 3,900 lumens. The balanced lamp design configuration offers
uniform light distribution at any setting. With the lamp on high, the
fixture will deliver light as bright as most 300 watt halogen torchieres.
At an electric rate of $0.14 per kilowatt hour, the cost of using one
300 watt halogen
floor lamp for 5 hours per day is about $85.00 annually. In comparison,
the UltraLux™ full spectrum compact fluorescent torchiere will only use
about $14.00 of electricity during the year.
WHY SHOULD YOU BUY FLUORESCENT OVER HALOGEN?
- It operates at cooler temperatures! Halogen lamps have caused hundreds
of home fires. The UltraLux™ lamp's operating temperature is 130 degrees.
Compare that to a halogen floor lamp which operates at a much higher
1000 degree temperature. Halogen lamps cause fires! The CFL torchiere
produces 25% more lumens than 300W halogen torchieres, while using 1/5
the energy and operating 1000°F cooler. The 40 million halogen lamps
in the United States consume 20 billion kWh annually, 5 times the energy
generated by wind turbines and photovoltaics, and contributed to 189
fires, resulting in 11 deaths, because of their high temperatures. Click

- It uses much less electricity! As shown above the UltraLux™ torchiere
uses 1/6th the electricity than that of a halogen floor lamp.
- It lasts much longer! Halogen lamps burn out quickly compared to CFL's.
A Halogen lamp will usually last 1000 hours while the ParaLite compact
fluorescent bulb lasts up to 10,000 hours.
- It uses true Color full spectrum lamps! ParaLite™ offers the first
full spectrum compact fluorescent torchieres in the industry. This light
matches the color of daylight which is a brilliant white light in color.
We also offer a warmer color option bulb, which is called the sunset
bulb, for $22.50.
- Dimmable electronic ballast system produces flicker-free lighting
using a preventive frequency interference dimmer switch.
